will be altogether of very little use to German and neutral exporters.

A report from San Francisco, dated 5th April, 1918, states that a now Steamship Company has been formed in New York with a capital of $10,000,000 under the name of "Feder- al Oriental Steamship Co." The head of this Company is said to be an American of the name of Millroy. The Head offiod of the Company is to be at Seattle or Portland (Oregon), the steamers are to call, however, at San Francisco on the way to Japan and China.

It is to be hoped that the introduction of these American steamers will give German merchants opportunity to take a larger part than before in the Export and Import trade between the United States and China.
